Wellington Day 1

Monday:
Our first stop for the day was at a wildlife sanctuary, Zealandia. This sanctuary take care of lots of endangered animals and plants native to New Zealand. The first area we looked at was a video the made about early settlement in New Zealand and what it meant for those native species living there at the time. It was a short video but it also included what they are planning for the next 500 years on the sanctuary. Once the video had finished we went on a tour around the sanctuary. We saw animals like Tuatara, Takahe, fish and ducks. We went on a walk over a swing bridge and onto the dam. Once our tour had finished we at our lunch and loaded back up on the bus.
Our next stop was Te Papa museum. The were so many amazing exhibits at Te Papa. There was an earthquake house, a natural disaster room, a sea and fish room. The sea and Fish room was really amazing. They had baby whale skeletons, fish everywhere (they weren't real though) and lastly a giant squid. The giant squid was in a glass case from the floor. It was huge. After that we went up stairs and visited the Air New Zealand exhibit. My favourite part of that was  a simulator. We went inside an part of an airplane, sat in the seats and put the goggles on. It played the future thoughts of Air New Zealand. But it wasn’t like a cinema. You could turn around and still see the video. It was like you were actually in the airplane. It was a quick video but one i’ll never forget. After that we didn’t have much time to explore anymore so we loaded back on the bus to our next destination.
When we arrived at the national library we were going to go look at the WW1 (World War 1) exhibits. We split into groups and went round looking at different things about WW1, the Gallipoli Battle. After having a look round we did a scavenger hunt we said goodbye and headed to our last stop of the day, H2O Xtreme, the pools in Upper Hutt. It was a fun hour because the pools included three hydroslides, a rapid river and a wave pool. All of the three areas were fun and everyone had a great time. After that we went back to the top ten we were staying at, had dinner and went to bed.
